Tess years ago when I heard that saying I was puzzled at the context it was used, someone looked at me and said, That is a horse reference girl, what were YOU thinking??? I dragged my mind out of the gutter... ![]() If any have other suggestions. Collard greens, fat back, cornpone, johnny cakes. I learned that most of these people originally came from Scotland, and Ireland. They wanted a place that was like home. I guess they got it and really settled in. I can't remember what the documentary on "Dialects of the USA" said about how they transitioned to talking like that. |
