What I did was something I think a few others could appriciate. I've noticed some of us have decided not to continue on with the novel we started with, but want to complete the PreNaNo challenge, as well as NaNo itself. What I did was pretend that I finished the novel, it was a smash success and WDC Mag (teehee) wanted to interview me about it. I gave a snippet of the interview where they found my original story was different from what I had published, and how and why that happened.
