I suppose I'm used to zoning out the distractions. I fly a lot, and I somehow always manage to sit beside the "life story" person. At home, my fiancé can't help but turn the T.V. onto shows I hate like "The Voice" "X Factor" "American Idol" "Dancing With the Stars." All stuff that comes with loud music... I zone it out and just type. The write-in I attended last night started as predominantly unsocial. I went, sat, and typed. We didn't get to introductions until half-way through the night. Even then, it was "Hi my name is -," keep typing. Our discussions were mostly contained until the end of the night. We shared opinions on writing styles, softwares, websites, etc. I managed to block out the hustle and bustle of our local panera bread with some good old 80's music and a pair of high end recording studio headphones. Chances are, I didn't need the music, since they function better than earplugs, but I turned it up just loud enough to hear a whisper. I guess since I'm used to the ruckus, that stuff doesn't bother me. Still, I would reccommend attending one, its always nice to discuss writing with others. I live in a pretty small coal town in northern PA. Most people here talk about mud tires and rifles, though that does spark my interests, the writing community here is quite small, and I'm far too much of an extrovert to not try to socialize about it. At any rate, that's my story and I'm sticking to it. Best of luck to all of you in the days ahead. Hope those words keep on coming to you. Write On! J. M.
