Re: The usual "which story" dilemma...
You could brainstorm mindmaps for both. Think of the resolution of where the book would need to end for the first one, and then think of all the things that could drive the antagonist into such cross-purposes of your protagonist. Let yourself free-associate anything, no matter how wacky.
