I went through a bit of this myself, Crys and Michelle! I've been Prepping and Nanoing my series for the past three years, and last year, i had a ton of things that came up where I realized that because of the direction I wanted to take with the third book, a ton of things needed to change in the first and second book, too. Now, I have another book idea that I want to execute, but that book is really not gelling quite as readily as I wanted. While I could in theory use the Prep time to execute on that, in reality I'm not sure that I want to and I feel like forcing myself to do it that way I'd probably be ham-stringing myself come November. I would rather nano-rebel this year to get my edits and boatloads of new content finished, and get that book out of the way before moving on to something else. One of the big problems with my previous drafts was that after a few chapters, I got really distracted and couldn't write in consecutive chapters, and I never really got my edits to where I was happy with the books. I'm hoping that this year will be the time I can make to focus on getting the pieces put together better. Crys, I say if you feel like it, you may want to consider nano-rebelling and using that productive time to do whatever writing will help you get something finished! My feeling based on my years with the prep is that even a partially finished novel could benefit from the kind of intensive we do with the Prep. ~j Are you ready to NaNo?! ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only ** |
