Everyone has excellent advice! I'm not sure what I can say to add to it, but at the points where I feel at my lowest, I start thinking about why I'm doing it. What is it that I love about the project? What is that spark that started me off in the first place? If I have to, I'll write a list to remind myself. (Because I want to show myself I can, because this is a story I want to tell, because I like this-or-that character or plot point...) Sometimes I end up realizing it's a project I need to rework completely to save the rough gem that started me off on it in the first place. I think both Prep and NaNo are opportunities for learning. No matter what, we'll come away knowing our stories a little bit better than we did going in. My advice: take a step back, eat ice cream, relax, and remember why you love this thing you're doing. Not sure if this is any help, but all the best to you! I hope we can all work through Prep and NaNo together! |
