Another way to think about prologues is that a lot of people do skip them. Is it important to have that information to understand the story? Does it tie in quickly to the main plot that starts with chapter one? If you need a prologue, write a prologue. This book isn't going to get published this month. You have time to edit it later and change that prologue or not after you have a draft and can think about how you want to present the novel to readers. |
