For fun, I plugged my plot back story into the readability reader. It would appear that I write at a 5th grade level (the English teacher in me is screaming at this fact). But, my sentences tend to be short, concise, and to the point. I stick to more common words and easier to understand concepts. So, it makes sense that this is where I fall.

Also for procrastination editing purposes, I like the hemingway app (www.hemingwayapp.com) because it shows any sentences that are too long, passive, or difficult to read. It also highlights adverbs and gives a base number on how many "should" be included. It's a great too to use to take a second look at your work.
