Re: Why, oh why, oh why, oh why?????
It probably does mean you went farther than required in the previous step, but that's not actually a negative. I personally think if you seem to have invaded the future last week, then just go ahead and invade the future again. Take a look at what the next revision of the step is, and go ahead and start on it. Or just spend some time putting a nicer shine on what you've already got.
Fifteen minutes for the required, and fifteen for the bonus, guys. The real point of this exercise is to make sure by November 1st that we've spent several hours getting ready for it. You may have to adapt a little on the details of each assignment if it doesn't fit your circumstances. That's not dishonesty. You're only cheating yourself if you claim to have worked at least 15 minutes when you didn't really do so.
I do think you should at least stay in the ballpark of the assignment, though. If it's about character development of your supporting character, then make sure what you're doing is character development of your supporting character. Of that you're still doing plot outlining, or scenery building, or whatever the topic of the day is. That's because the whole reason we are moving from topic to topic is to make sure we've covered all the bases by November 1st.
