My town is fictitious. However, I set it in a real location based upon the name of a logging road not to far from here. Bone Hollow. The best I can tell, it was either a place where they found dinosaur bones, or a native burial ground. Either way the real area floods way to often, grows trees that need a lot of water and is most likely owned by the paper mill about four miles away. But, it is also at the base of Pettie Jean Mountain and it sounded really cool.

Pettie Jean is a unique place with both a unique formation and a unique story for its name. If you ever get to come to Arkansas that is where I would suggest going. It's amazing. So amazing I couldn't not have it somewhere in the story.

I'm setting it in a dystiopian time. Bone Hollow is a safe haven complete with closable city gates. But, to contrast, I am still using landmarks from towns around it. The old courthouse and Big Star in Perryville... Yesterday's restaurant in Morrlton, and of course the colleges in Conway will eventually play a role along with Toad Suck state park and St. Boniface, the oldest catholic church in the state. Those timeless things that have been there forever. The things that thirty years from now I have no doubt people can drive past and go "Oh, that was in that book..." Thirty years from now a lot of things will have changed, but Conway will still be the city of colleges, Morrilton will still be the Devil Dogs, and St Boniface will still be standing right where it is. It brings a "truthiness" to the story even if the actual town isn't real.
