So...you ever go back and re-read something of yours and think to yourself, "Holy crap, I'm a great writer!"? OK, yeah...that sounds a little like boasting, doesn't it? But I am really hard on myself. Usually, I go back and read older stuff and wince at how poorly it was constructed, but sometimes I go back and I am astounded by myself, lol. I'm a really self-critical writer; my final contest entry for Prep was something I hated within five minutes of writing it. But sometimes--and it seems especially to be old campfire additions--I surprise myself, and it's like a jolt to my self-confidence. It reminds me that I am someone who is capable of churning out a good story that is entertaining and written well, and I really shouldn't be worried about getting published. I also realize that I *really* like the "incredibly intelligent/dangerous spy who pretends to be an idiot" and "character who is burdened by the gods with a gift he/she doesn't necessarily want" character types, lol. And, of course, gods. I really like gods... -Quaddy Check this Out!
