I've been arguing it for years. I was told once that a Native American character I was writing spoke too much in a passive voice. They just kept arguing with me that I needed to change it. Even explaining that my grandmother was a quarter Cherokee and she agreed it was how her mother who was raised on a reservation spoke didn't shut the person up about it. No, not many Native American's speak that way anymore but when you're dealing with a 200-year-old werewolf who happens to be Native American, you can't expect them to talk like some 15-year-old kid today. You'll be lucky if he speaks English at all. Oh and I'm not supposed to give directions like the following: "Well if you go down here to the crik and follow it to the haller then take a left across the wooden bridge you can find that feed store at the end of Old Mr. Jacksons driveway." All I can say is if you don't know what a crik and a haller are you need to stay out of the south.
