Your sarcasm implies that it wasn't funny, but I'd be willing to bet you would have laughed your butt off if that didn't feel so much like exercise. No, seriously. I once attended a conference for women in business. It was probably while I was at Coca-Cola. They've been very "diversity conscious" ever since a judge ordered them to be, back when they lost that class action suit in the 90's. At the conference, one of the workshops was a seminar on laughing. We stood in a circle, or maybe walked in a circle, and laughed. Not because someone said something funny; we were just instructed to laugh on command. It was fake, of course, at first, but because laughter is contagious, and everyone was laughing around you, eventually you found yourself laughing in earnest, and it grew and grew until we could barely control it. At the end of the workshop, after laughing for like forty minutes or an hour, our abdomens felt like we'd been doing crunches for an hour, and everyone was in a very good mood, which, in retrospect, was very clever of the facilitators. I probably wasn't supposed to tell you that, seeing as how you're not a woman. Hate to give away the secrets of women's business conferences. Cheers, Michelle |
