I have prepped more than one project in the past. I'm sort of prepping different projects at the moment but they're all in one series, so it doesn't count quite the same. I'm changing book 1 and hoping to be done by the time November starts so I can manage book 3.

So if this idea isn't gelling right now, it's okay to put it on a back burner. But it's also okay to try to keep at it, know where you're not ready for this one, and bring another project along for the ride. You won't lose anything, and there really is plenty of time left to consider it. And by the end of this month the project might be sparkly and say 'WRITE ME!'
