Hmmm. That is a good question. My first impression is to let the story evolve and not undo what is already done. Perhaps others will have different advice. But to me, you have put so much time into assignments and to now undo them seems a little premature to me. Perhaps it will all gel in the end.

Another idea, put everything aside for awhile. Take a walk. Get away. Then go back with fresh eyes.
