On the Authors tab, you can see the seconds on your timestamps (hh:mm:ss), and the calculation is automated based on the difference between those timestamps. However, on the log, we only report hh:mm to Preppers.

Your leadership team has discussed this discrepancy and agree that, since you only had minutes reported to you on the log, and you made a legitimate effort to beat the clock with the information you had available to you, we will remove seconds from the 72 hour rule calculation for you and for all authors going forward.

So sayeth your leadership team.

Your status as "still in the running" has been restored. I would be remiss to not suggest that waiting until the literal last second is risky, and if you miss the deadline by a minute, you will be eliminated.
