While I'm not 60+, I work with many older adults. I agree with Norma Jean - older adults are capable of so much! I have a friend who takes my yoga class. She's over 80 by now, but you'd probably think she was late 60s to meet her. She's in such great shape. She is probably slower, she's delightful to talk with, she has a lot of experience, but physically she's got silver hair and she moves very well. (She exercises every day, stretches and yoga are involved.) I've had people aged 90+ (who called me a baby because they had 50 years on my age so I couldn't argue with them), who are very much the same. If you feel like you need a specific health concern - research it thoroughly. Most people aren't talking about all of their maladies all of the time. A lot of protagonists just grit their teeth and do the thing anyway. Many people who are older today were raised to forget about those body signals and just DO THE THINGS and forget to take breaks or take care of themselves when work needs to be done. Watch for your specific age range and possibly their generational cues (Because boomers are different from the greatest generation and they're all different from gen x.) But have fun with it, too! |
