About 15 years ago I was given the advice that a good antagonist thinks they are the protagonist, and are the hero of their own story. Since then, that's how I've written my "bad guys"... and, yes, since then I have had most of my publication sales. I don't think that's a coincidence.

The idea of being able to write the story with the antag as protag and vice versa is something else I have done. Does the monster, who is just an animal, concerned about these creatures trying to kill it when it just wants to feed and procreate? Great - sympathetic antag. And so on.

So, basically I'm just reiterating what BrandiwynšŸŽ¶ already said... throwing my own two cents in.
