Hi, I have been reading about what what makes a good scene. I have come across two different sites and two different examples of what a scene should be made of. Site # 1 A full scene is made of the scene and its sequel: Scene: 1. Scene goal - what the mc wants 2. Conflict - obstacle in the way of mc obtaining goal 3. Disaster/outcome - build-up to next scene Sequel: 1. Reaction - to what happened above 2. Dilmma = What do I do now? 3, Decision - Makes a plan and acts on it The next scene starts. Site # 2: Says each scene is a mini-story within the story as a whole and should contain a touch of the following: 1. Exposition - introduce character, world tone & set up inciting incident - with no major changes 2. Inciting incident - kick-off scene 3. Rising complications - conflict 4. Crisis - Decision or choice - must make one 5. Climax - Outcome 6. Denouemnt - set-up for next scene- close of scene Are these technically the same? Should I combine them? Thank you, Kristina |
