One of my favorite movies of all times is a Western, and there are only a handful of Westerns that I love. CheerFairy Dutchessbarbie.'s mention of nationalities brought it to mind. As food for thought, in the movie El Dorado (with John Wayne and Dean Martin) there are some great names and nicknames for the characters that might get you thinking. John Wayne's name is Cole Thornton (Cole) Dean Martin is Sheriff JP Harrah His sidekick is a 'kid' they call Mississippi–his actual name is Alan Badilian Trahern, hence the nickname ![]() ![]() There's a respected gun re-seller they call "The Swede" for obvious reasons, he's delightful. Other first names of "good guys" are (all from the Bible?) Saul, Jared, Matt, Kevin, and Luke. The bad guys' names are sharper: Bart, Kevin, Milt ––and the gunslinger has the best name, I think, slippery like a snake: Nelse (pronounced "else" with an "n" at the beginning). Yes I'm procrastinating, but they are some good examples of names that work as a group. At this point, Schnujo's Giving Away GPs, I'd suggest you put in name placeholders (like Mike, Joe, Fred, or MC, GhostKid, Wife, BadGuy1, whatever works for you) until you decide on the names you want to use. Your characters might just reveal their names to you as you write them! ![]() ( ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Okay, okay, going to set up on Scrivener... ![]() ![]() |
