1. I suppose if the book or story did not have a title, or name, then it would be both meaningless and unmemorable. Jokes aside, I think that the title provides the work with an identity and is therefore relatable in some way.

2. I think that there should be some connection between the title and the story, whether that is an element in the story or a theme. I, for one, spend most of the time that I am reading something, to identify where the title fits into the story. So, if it did not relate to the story, then I might find the story a little disappointing when I finish it. I enjoy it when books in a series carry titles that are connected to one another.

3. Currently I do not spend too much time on the titles of my works. I need something initially that will give me a sense of what sparked the story, but I am not averse to changing it down the line after I have the completed work in front of me. Then I can take a step back and consider what the most appropriate title could be and change to that. The worst titles I have had refer to when I have written the prose and have not yet gone back to give it a more succinct title, meaning that I need to do some reading of what I wrote to get the story.
