There isn't an exact way or method. It is something I have done for a few novels but not for all of them. I would just listen to the playlist in general when writing. Sometimes it helped when I went to writing meetups in public or needed to be out where there was internet to use headphones and music to drown out the people around. I did find that some music was better for writing action scenes, at least with the fantasy stories. Listening to music from Final Fantasy on YouTube gives some sense of pacing and some of the instrumentals have a dynamic feel that help. Most of the time, songs will just make me think of the story overall or characters. I have a novel in progress inspired by the song Happier (from Marshmello and Bastille). And in the NaNo Prep challenge, I know in the past one of the activity options was to create a playlist. I could show you some examples some time if you want to email me. |
