Do the assignments and exercises as well as you can and relax during October, getting yourself ready. There is so much support and stuff here for everyone that you can almost be dragged across the finish line. The thing to remember is - once NaNoWriMo starts, "winning" with 50k words is arbitrary. Yes, you might not get an MB here at WdC, and a virtual badge on the NaNo website if you don't complete 50k words, but... does it matter? If you manage "only" 20k words, that's still 20k words you didn't have before. You might not "win" (I so hate that term) in 2024, but you'll be better prepared for 2025. And if you do "only" write 15k words... how many people say they are going to write a book or novel or whatever and never do? You are already ahead of most of the rest of the world. I say it again: that is 15k, 20k, whatever words you didn't have before. By any metric (apart from the "official" one), by writing in November and pushing yourself, you have won. While the 50k words is a fine goal, just write. Then you'll be a winner anyway. |
