You do have the right idea. Besides, thanks to my parents being...over protective I may have missed out on some critical interventions that schools may have helped with. I'm not saying I'm on any spectrum. Thats not the point. My point is that there are people in this world who are extraordinary AND on the spectrum. But without the intervention of their family and behaviorists, their prognosis wouldn't have been nearly as positive. I look at the difference between my one family friend in their forties who has Autism and is a druggie and people like Temple Grandin and the difference is huge. Temple had interventions. She became a famous animal behaviorist. This family friend had the same disorder but a much different outcome. Why? Because his family is so dysfunctional that they just couldn't be bothered with any problems except the mother and daughter being clinically insane. This person could have ended up having a good life but thanks to slipping through the cracks, now they're just a pariah. |
