... maybe you need to rethink the main conflict of the story. I have so many 'What if' statements from earlier in the Prep, and I'm nearly finished with my outline... well, the end is still a question mark, which is part of the reason I'm pondering the change. So do I rework the outline before starting to write... or do I write the thing, see how my characters behave in the moment, and let them take over... or do I follow the outline and then slash it to bits afterward? *sigh* I wish I knew how to be a pantser, but it just doesn't work for me. One of my clients is a complete pantser, and her stories always go exactly where they need to. It's not fair! |
