It really hit home all of a sudden, NaNo is just around the corner. Steven's words were very much to the point and hit a chord. But then I started with What ifs in my mind: What if I cannot do it? I am a pantser and now I did PREP, what if this is it and I cannot come up with more in the actual writing? So, I made a list that will comfort me, it's different for others but perhaps it will help. 1. Find a quiet place in your house to write. Set the scene, clean your desk if you have to (I have to ). 2. Prepare a music playlist. I made a YouTube list specially for NaNo, with hours of music. 3. Do your groceries as much as possible. Be novel-ready. Do your dishes! This one is a hurdle for me since I live alone and I don't want to have to do much chores in November. 4. Inform your family and friends that you're not available for a month. 5. Have faith that you'll accomplish this. 6. Get ready and start Friday, November 1st. 7. Above all: enjoy yourself, have fun with your characters, and remember why you wanted to be a writer in the first place. Everybody, do your thing and Good Luck! |
