Central International Airport This choice: If take-off goes on without a hitch • Go Back...Chapter #8If take-off goes on without a hitch by: Unknown Blab, Blab, Blab says the stewardess as the plane takes off without a hitch. Now air born the plane levels off and the trip is underway. It is a six-hour flight and the passengers settled in for the duration, happily.
Justin was already busy reading a fiction story called, “Cool Elevation” and apparently enjoying the read. Kanya’s eyes were heavy and her body ached from the airport race to safety undercover. She adjusted the back of her seat back as far as it would lower without disturbing the passenger directly behind her. Closing her eyes she became lost to the world in sleep.
After a couple of hours Justin also felt the droop of his eyelids. He pulled the shade on his window and also fell asleep.
The stewardess began passing out the passengers meals around four hours into the flight. Both Kanya and Justin had awakened from their naps earlier and were ready to receive some nourishing substance. Receiving their meals they were pleased to see the supper was to their individually liking. Kanya exclaimed delight at opening hers. For fried chicken and mashed potatoes was her favorite meal. This meal also contained a small lettuce salad along with a dinner roll, and green beans. There was a small container of frozen ice cream and a package of mini-chocolate chip cookies.
“That looks delicious, Kanya.”
“Open yours and see what you have.”
No surprise the dinners were alike. They ate quietly savoring each bite. They both had awakened to starvation. Not really, but it sure felt like it at the time. The stewardess had taken orders for drinks and was delivering the covered drinks to the passengers as they ate.
“I wonder if the stewardess’ get to eat a meal or if they have to suffer till after we reach Bermuda.”
“Look, they are behind that partition. They eat their meal there and if any need arises from the passengers they get up and offer assistance. They probably don’t get to eat a meal through without at least one interruption.”
“I wonder if you will be in the same hotel I’m going to be at.”
“I am going to be staying at a cottage right on the ocean. It is in my travel package. I plan to take advantage of the sightseeing tours that the island offers. I want to see everything there is to see. I also plan to sleep late, eat well and stay up late. I’m on vacation; I’m going to live it up.”
“Yes,” Kanya speaks a bit sorrowfully, “vacation and live it up. I want that too, but first I’m going to just enjoy a good long sleep. I am so tired. I only got out of the hospital yesterday. My body is healing from an operation. I feel great but am so tired.”
The stewardess came and took their trays away; Kanya settled back against her seat and took a long luxurious nap. The next thing she knows is that the plane is descending to make the landing. indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
