Central International Airport This choice: Jessica checks out the office. • Go Back...Chapter #9Jessica checks out the office. by: Unknown Pressing herself next to the door frame, Jessica's hand hovered over the handle. After a short moment of listening to near silence, with only the sound of a rickety old ceiling fan turning overhead, she determined that the office was empty, void of any living soul. The handle rattled in her touch but it opened without much more effort than a twist and cautious push. All the while, she made ready to defend herself should her judgement prove wrong, a palm open on her free hand to catch anything that might be thrown at her.
Fortunately, her stroke of luck continued. There was nobody here.... or least, no one alive. On the floor laid two men dressed in expensive suits, faced upwards with their eyes closed, each wearing her enemy's badge upon the lapels of their crumpled jackets. Most likely that they might have been her guards, which explains why she woke up alone and unguarded. From the looks of it, there was no blood, only a violent struggle from how tossed over the room seemed. A quick step over and tap of fingers upon their necks confirmed her suspicions. No pulse. Dead for at least a few hours. Whoever did them in was a highly skilled unarmed combatant, considering the visible damage on their faces.
The aftermath of the scene confused her. If this was a rescue mission, the Agency must have completely forgotten about her. Perhaps one of Reimmere's enemies? A rival? Another organisation? Whatever it was, they certainly did not seem to have any interest in her. Turning her attention elsewhere, Jessica set her eyes around the room and immediately discovered the nearest window smashed open. The fire escape outside the window was simply in clear view for her to make her exit out of the building and onto the street, as if left there in plain sight for her convenience. Turning again, she looked for anything that might help to make sense over what was happening, but there simply did not seem to be much. There were a lot of things messed around in the drawers, evidence that someone had definately been looking for something. She did manage to find out from a ledger that Reimmere used this old bakery warehouse to smuggle in some very compromising materials. It'll prove useful once the Agency finally puts him behind bars. Besides all the fluttering paperwork everywhere, she also managed to find a map with some post-its plastered onto it in the far wall of the room. Instinctively thinking there might be something there, she took a close look.
It was a map of Europe, covered in little dots as if there had been a lot of things pinned onto it. One point had a post-it on it, marked by bright red pins, reading clearly in English: "Delivery". It looks like Reimmere might have an interest in delivering something to a certain city in Spain. Might be worth checking out, but then again, considering how much time she was out, Reimmere could still by in Paris.... indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
