This choice: Phil is sitting on the end of the bed waiting for her  •  Go Back...
Chapter #8

Old Flames....

    by: Unknown
Phil looked up at her as Jessica entered the room, she could see the instant desire in his eyes at seeing her damp and in a towel. She gave him a stern look and he averted his eyes quickly.
"I suppose I'll be sleeping on the floor tonight." He whispered.
Jessica wanted to be angry at him for even thinking they could share a bed but she didn't have the energy too so she decided to ignore her ex-husbands comment.
"What did dispatch have to say?" Work, a safe subject.
"They will be at the restaurant in the morning, we should look out for Donnie and Burt, they will be in civilian clothes eating breakfast and Rochelle is on the door. All sorted. What's the plan tonight then?" Phil knew Jessica wouldn't be able to just sit and do nothing, she suffered from insomnia, he knew from all the nights he would wake up alone in bed only to find Jessica in the gym or working. Her mind just could not stop.
"I was going to catch an hour's sleep and then go to the bar, Remmiere or one of his thugs might fancy a late night tipple, I could get some more information. This is not just a target Phil, we need to get the files before we kill him. This job is important to me." Jessica unzipped her suitcase and pulled out a long black dress, Phil didn't recognise it, he had only ever seen Jessica in a dress on their wedding day.
"Look, I know you're not happy that we're working together but you know we work good together Jess, why can't we for one night forget we used to be married and work as a team, like we used too. You're good Jess, but better with me." Phil stood up and Jessica could feel him behind her.
She turned to face him, he looked gorgeous in the lamp light of the hotel room and some old feelings began to stir inside of her. He was right, she knew that. Her and Phil had always worked better together, that was until they got married. Memories flooded her mind but she shook them away.
"Okay." She muttered, Phil was too close for comfort.
"Good, so lets figure out a plan..."
