Central International Airport This choice: Justin decides to try to explain everything to his superiors when he lands • Go Back... Justin spent most of the flight trying to determine, just how his notes had been compromised. He was as security-conscious as his employment contract with Ararat required. He didn't write down his screensaver password, and he always locked his screen, whenever he stepped away from his desk.
Prior to leaving work for this trip, he'd transferred the necessary files directly from his workstation to his laptop. He hadn't checked them first; why should he? He'd completed his work and closed down his work computer the night before, then come in to get the files on his way to the airport. There was no way anyone could have accessed his computer overnight. Ararat took site security very seriously.
The flight was well over the Pacific, by the time Justin had determined the scope of the problem. Although the notes showed that he had made significant progress in researching and testing a specific virus, it was the wrong virus. Even worse, the notes indicated that the likelihood of determining an acceptable means of delivery, not to mention producing an antidote, was months away; perhaps, it wasn't even possible at all. The true situation was exactly the reverse.
As they began their descent into Honolulu International Airport, Justin realized he had almost completely neglected Taffy. He felt badly about it, especially as the beautiful woman had initiated the conversation, something that was almost completely beyond his experience. The situation with his notes had to take precedence, though. He had to find a way to explain to his paymasters, that he was not to blame for the missing and corrupted data.  indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
