Chapter #5

Stored up emotions

    by: Sascha1994
The recent years of hide and seek, of flight and fear took hold of Kanya. She glared at the painting and tears covered her face instantly, like the gushing of a river - a river that had been held back for decades. Kanya was known to be a sensible women, cool-headed and strategic, always following the cold rationale of logic. When eye to eye with the portrait, she released all the anger and despair stored up in her heart to her deceased great-great-grandmother.

In a flash, her heart focussed on all the pain she had to endure from that side of the family. And the portrait first changed into her great-grandmother, then her grandmother and finally into her father - all of whom shared the same green eyes not matching the brown, thick hair, giving them a cold and mysterious look.

While keeping her eyes on the portrait, she let her hands reach out for items around her. She found an old-fashioned, over-sized phone sitting on a dark desk with a bench. She aimed for the drawer, where she found something she was looking for: a reddish knife made in Switzerland. She did not hesitate for long and pierced the knife into her relative´s portraited eyes. When she launched her hand for the second strike reaching for the center of the picture, her hand froze in the harsh grip of Justin.
