Central International Airport This choice: Does Helen merely thank them for retrieving the pencil and go on with her Sudoku • Go Back...Chapter #5distant thoughts by: mariesha She felt her cheeks begin to flush with embarassement as she assessed the situation. Should she just get up and reach for the pencil or was this the opportunity to spark up a conversation?
Putting her Sudoku to the side, Helen reached across the aisle space towards the small mechanical pencil that had tucked itself beneath Eddie, the "Spider"s, tattered backpack. She hastily scooped up the pencil and set herself back in her seat. Glancing over at the men, she was relieved to see neither of them had noticed. The one with the reddish hair was so absorbed in his reading materials, he hadn't bothered to look up while the more disshelved man seemed in another world with his music blaring and eyes closed.
The plane was nearly full at this point and the flight attendents began their methodical trips up and down the aisles. Helen sat back in her seat and stared at the pages of her puzzle, the numbers becoming fuzzy and blurred at the edges as her thoughts took over the space. Her mind wandered to Victor and what he was doing. Glancing at her watch, her heart pained as she realized it was nearly dinner time and he was surely on his way home to his family. Her inner demons began to wrestle as Helen pulled out her cell phone and let her fingers' memory do the work. She knew she had a few minutes before the captain requested all electronic devices be turned off, and that was just enough time to compose a text message to Victor...  indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
