Chapter #6

A Familiar Stranger

    by: Unknown
"Strange", she mused, "How some small things happen in life and yet makes us think and ponder of it for a while". She looks again at the book in her hand and wondered why she had the nagging feeling in the back of her mind. She could'nt place it. But something...She walked behind him, wanting to call out to him. "No" she decided.

She turns and continues her way, the book in her hand. A few minutes later and somewhere down the street, the stranger stands looking at her fading figure. He appears to be thinking deeply about the girl he had just left behind. "Jessica", he says the name softly but his eyes seem to harden as he continued thinking.

Jessica, continues her way, pondering on her next move. Maybe should try her hand in fashion designing after reaching Paris. After all, Paris was the home to the world of fashion. And she used to be quite proficient in it. She should have stuck to it, she thought ruefully. Things would have worked out so much better. Now she is walking alone in the streets of London, with an indefinite future ahead of her!

Confused and dejected, she suddenly jerks back to the reality as she recognized the stranger suddenly ahead of her, coming towards her. Hadnt she just left him behind her? "What now? More complications, I hope not!!!" The thoughts were racing in her mind as he made his way to her.

" Jessica, Hi, May I please talk to you? Lets go for a cup of tea. It is important for me to talk to you right now"

" I dont know you. We just met because of the incident of our books. I dont think we have anything important to talk to each other. If you want your book back, we can just exchange it now again"

The stranger looked at her almost disgusted that she dared to think of such a stupid comment.
"Jessica, As I said, it is important for me. But it is life for you. You wont understand till you talk to me"

Jessica, suddenly, nervous and cold, took a step back. She is not going to fall for this one. No way and she turns and runs.

The stranger did not stop her.

Later, as she got ready to leave for her flight, she thought of the incident again. She still has time. Maybe she should talk to him for a few minutes. She decides to take the same route for a short and quick walk. She does not see him. She continues in the direction towards which he was walking when they first met.

"Why, in the world, am I doing this?" She is kicking herself in the back of her mind but did not stop walking.

Finally, convinced that she would not see him that day, she continues her way. It is time for her flight. As she enters the terminal, she forgets about the whole incident .
