"Hey mister, are you ok. I need to get you to the hospital. She grabbed her cell to call the emergency response team. She was kneeling beside him. He was holding his right side with sticky blood soaking his shirt. He leaned up on his elbow and grabbed the phone from her letting it hit the ground as he yelled in pain. Tossing his head back, she could see his face distort in pain. He had golden blond hair tumbling out from under this cap that fell out.
"No police," he said in a thick Russian accent. "Call a taxi instead."
"You need an ambulance sir. You will bleed to death."
"No police!" he insisted.
Then he pulled a little case out of his jacket. "They think they have it but it was a deploy they grabbed. This is the real diamond. I am going to give it to you. You protect it. They will never know who has it. Now yoiu can cal the ambulance," he said as he sank back into unconsiouness.
The little black case was laying on his chest with his hand still around it. He had tried to take her hand to grasp it as he collapsed. She now reached out to take it. She had an epithany, She shoved it into her bag and called the emergancy response giving them her location.
They would be there soon yet as Jessica looked down at his Russian she knew he would not make it. She checked his pulse. It was so weak. She reached into his pants for his wallet. She opened it to read his name. Nickolas Ivanof was his name. He took a business card from him and backed away as she heard the sirens. She was in no mood to be in interigation all night. She ran to the next block and crouched into an empty door way as the emergency vehicle came. She had left them an anonymos tip about gun shoots and seeing a man hit the ground as she was driving by. She did not say she stopped and would be waiting.
They loaded up the man checking his vitals. She seen the police coming down the street and retreated to the alley. She was going to get out of there. She nneded to call Andrew soon.
She lifted up the phone along with his card to call him.
