This choice: The plane goes down in the triangle, Josh and Vito rescue Kanya  •  Go Back...
Chapter #6

Rescued

    by: Sunflower
Everything seemed like a blur to Kanya. She vaguely remembered the explosion, and the sense of falling.. And floating.. And someone calling out her name...

"Kanya, wake up," it was the voice of the little boy. She opened her eyes. The boy looked slightly familiar, kind of like she had seen him in a dream. The sunlight filtering to her through the canopy above told her that it was noon.

"Kanya, are you okay? It is me, Josh."

"Yeah, I'm fine, I guess," Kanya whispered. The shooting pains in her left leg and shoulder told her otherwise. "So, where am I?" she asked, trying to put on a smile.

"I dunno, looks like a jungle to me. The plane crashed over there.. Vito pulled you out before everything blew up. I helped him to bandage your leg." Josh told her enthusiastically. Kanya noted that Josh also had a wound in his forehead, and bruises all over his body. Then she saw the calm figure of Vito standing beside her. "Thanks for saving me," she told him.

"Yeah," he grunted.

Just then Kanya heard it. It was faint yet distinct, and seemed to be growing louder. It was like the beat of a hundred drums together.

Kanya caught a glimpse of Vito's face as it looked ashen white. Then he caught hold of the boy and helped her get up.

"Run," he whispered to her.

She needed no prompting. She limped as fast as she could, with Vito supporting her weight on one side, and Josh holding her hand on the other side.
