Chapter #7

Encountering the natives

    by: Unknown
Of course they were not exactly fast moving forward like this.

Kanya saw the reflection of her horrified look in Vito's eyes as she looked at him. They would never be able to escape whoever was behind them. She squeezed Josh's Hand as the drums beat louder and louder.

She looked over her shoulder and saw a group of maybe ten scarcely dressed men, obviously natives to this environment. They were holding wooden spears and shields and did not seem very friendly in nature.

Kanya sighed. Any attempt at flight was futile. Vito had figured as much, too. They stopped and waited for the group of natives to reach them.

When the men noticed that the intruders had given up the thought of escape, they approached quickly. One of them, who seemed to be some sort of chief, adressed Vito, whom he had made out to be the leader of the little group.

The trouble was, none of the natives knew a word of English. Or Italian. And Kanya wasn't even sure what language was spoken in this part of the world.

Vito gestured in the direction of the plane wreck and made signs of something falling down from great height.

The men discussed something among themselves and then signaled the group to follow them, pointing at them with their spears.
