I'm JACE, and I have the honor of reading and reviewing your offering "Short Bio" .
I invite your attention to the comments below. Please bear in mind these notes are from one on the outside looking in; ultimately only you can decide what's right for your story.
Overall Impression. Good morning, Max. I found your offering on the site's Read & Review feature. This seemed fortuitous as I needed an item from a Blue case to complete a review challenge. Thanks for that. (And yes, I know you had nothing to do with your appearance other than you were online at some point in the very recent past.)
Enough blather. I do enjoy reading bio-material (now that sounds hazardous) on the members here. Thus, I couldn't pass up your essay. By the way, did you create your cover pic? I've toyed with pencil drawings though I could never do portraits. I'm much more at home with photography.
You highly recommend the The Art of Fiction. I've never read it and will have to check it out. My kids bought me a gift certificate to Barnes & Noble. Your recommendation seems like a worthy purchase.
You first wrote this Bio ten years ago. I wonder if you were retired then. I just retired last year from a vocation I thoroughly enjoyed for more than 30 years. You appear to stay involved with your academic life. I know remaining engaged in life is essential to retirement. I wish you the best in that regard.
Congratulations on your published works. Honestly, that was never a big draw for me with my writing. (I was published in the US Army's Engineer Magazine many years ago as an up-and-coming Lieutenant.) I now focus on writing my Life Stories for my kids and grand-kids.
Sorry for including all my own personal stuff. Reading others' bios makes me nostalgic. I wish you the very best in all your future endeavors.
Technical and Editorial Considerations. In this section I normally list those areas that relate specifically to the mechanics of your writing--punctuation, grammar, spelling, etc.
I noted only one problem. You left an errant 'j' after knitter.
My Rating. Rating not required; review only.
