Greetings, Kiya, and happy almost birthday again!
I found this on the Random Read and Review button, and the reward was great enough to make me want to read it in time I’ve seen this bit of fanfiction in your port before and was always kind of hesitant to read it. For one thing I have no clue about the original manga you’re working from, so I wasn’t sure if I had enough context to understand the storyline. But I jumped right in this time, and I have to say, it was amazing.
This is a gripping story of someone who was willing to do anything for his twin sister, and the details of the story it’s inspired by are not required for understanding and appreciating what you have built here. I read it through breathlessly and was almost disappointed it was so brief, capturing the moment of awakening and the fall back into oblivion of someone who is in a deeply hopeless and miserable situation through his own destructive acts of violence. The very sister he did it all for is forever lost to him, and all he has left are his dreams.
It touches me deeply because I think a lot about monsters and wonder sometimes if I might have the risk of becoming one. I have a story in my port, indeed, about a man and his sister and a ruthless gang… "Whose Side Are You On?" This psychological fiction, deep and unnerving and yet not “r-rated” in terms of language or gore, is right up my alley. I have my own dreams which I tend to be pulled into… sometimes I feel like the only time I’m at peace is in the few moments before I fall asleep, when I’m fully and truly alone without anyone else except my own mind. I’m very happy to finally read this.
My only suggestion would definitely be to use a larger font size… I read this on my iPad, and it comes across as quite small and cramped and lengthier than it is. It’s amazing what Size 4 Verdana font does for an item You can also enclose the upper and lower notes in drop notes to make it tidier looking on the edges. Other than that, this story is a real award winner Hey, you should drop it off at Arakun’s Twisted Tales monthly contest. I think she would appreciate it.
Take care, thanks for sharing, and keep writing
