Taskmaster: nebulous, all-seeing being--
who prompts our every word,
who, with assured dignity,
giveth and taketh away
the very words
we are allowed
to write; or say and
who assigns
the marrow
leaving us
the tasked, the prompted, the tiered
to create
the skeletons of phrases,
to define
the essence of the proscribed,
to refine and mold and then…
to set free
to cast away
to fling in full flight
our renderings.
