Writing poetry allows me to exercise my imagination and share it with others. I strive to write for the benefit of the reader using carnival fun mirror images of my life's experiences.
I Prayed I Were An Alien
I can't be sure if it was a dream,
So psychedelic it did seem,
That a leaping leopard the color of cream,
Should be killed by a laser beam,
From the weapons of a military team,
And thus the reason for my scream.

In shock, I did completely freeze,
Couldn't see the waving trees,
Couldn't feel the summer breeze,
Or hear the songs of the birds or bees,
My legs turned to cottage cheese,
So I fell down on my knees

I prayed I was an alien,
Grey with huge eyes and cranium,
Following rules quite fabian,
Not being an American,
Not Mexican or Canadian,
As invisible as a chameleon.
