Oh, Spring! In the winter of life, Bittersweet, each angelic day, Absent the spirit of my wife, Her blest soul long stolen away. Awestruck, as a cardinal sings, Oh, Spring! In the winter of life, Your album holds such wondrous things, To distract from time's thrusting knife. When young I knew the angst of strife, I've since felt it's deforming bite, Oh, Spring! In the winter of life, I welcome more your early light. Send your comfortable embrace, For with grief, my last days are rife, Let sunshine smooth my wrinkled face, Oh, Spring! In the winter of life. (16 Lines) "This form is called a quatern. The first line is repeated as the second line in the second stanza, the third line of the third and final line of the fourth. Each line must have eight syllables."
