We live our share of life in pain, We know the feeling of fear, When warm sunshine gives way to rain, Each drop is a saint's shed tear. Though often treated cavalier, If we truthfully disclose, The sun glows when the skies are clear, Dark days spark bright tomorrows. If more joy we seek to attain, Tragedy will engineer, A void well able to contain, A greater measure of cheer. Faux purity is insincere, Telling lies make people foes, The divine light will soon appear, Dark days spark bright tomorrows. The uncontrollable campaign, Of each man's venomous jeer, Our well-lived lifestyles do ordain, That evil will disappear. When a loss is felt coming near, When besieged by our sorrows, To our most steadfast faith adhere, Dark days spark bright tomorrows. Sweet as cold bottled ginger beer, Or a perfect line of prose, This one rule we can all revere, Dark days spark bright tomorrows. (28 Lines) *Ballade: Consists of three stanzas of eight lines and an envoy, with all ending in the same one-line refrain. Rhyming pattern is: ababbcbC ababbcbC ababbcbC bcbC
