About This Author
I am a 40 year old married mother of two teenage boys. I live for writing, especially romance. Love the happily ever after scenerio. The best thing about writing for me is the ability to lose yourself in your work, and feel as if you've accomplished something great. At the end of the day, that's all that really matters.

Jessica's Break Up Prompt: Every beginning comes from another beginning’s end. As one relationship comes to an end, another one unexpectedly starts.
To say Jessica was sick of it would be an understatement. More precisely, she was sick of him and this tumultuous relationship. It hadn’t started out that way, the first month was great really, filled with all those little firsts and the excitement of a new relationship. That is until one little argument turned into several explosive ones where made her feel like less than nothing, which got her thinking things were just not going to work out. Tonight, she would break things off. She couldn’t go on one more day like this. She ran the conversation through her mind at least a dozen times, and as he pulled up in front of the house to pick her up, she took a deep, steadying breath to get control of her thoughts and rapid heartbeat.
Jessica got into his car and forced a smile, needing the comfort of a public place before she made her intentions known.
Jake kissed her cheek, threw the car into drive and raced away from the house, blaring the radio. Jessica was thankful to have extra time to collect her thoughts and not have to talk to him as he drove them to the café. She watched him, his head bobbing as he sang the lyrics to the song, not a care in the world. She remembered how fascinated she’d been by him in the beginning, and how all those little quirks she once liked now annoyed her. The only good thing she could see was that they’d only been together three months, before the relationship turned serious. All she had to do was keep calm and follow through, and not let Jake intimidate her.
He parked the car and they headed toward an outside table.
“What do you want to eat,” Jake asked, grabbing a menu and looking it over.
“I’m not really hungry. I really would like an iced cappuccino, though.”
He tossed the menu down onto the table, sat back in his chair and looked at her. “This was your idea, and now you’re not going to eat?” He questioned, his suspicions clearly roused as his eyes turned to tiny slits and he continued to stare at her.
Jessica sighed, averting her eyes. “I’ve lost my appetite.”
“Is this about our fight?” Jake leaned forward and grabbed her hand. “Come on, baby, you know I didn’t mean the things I said.”
She closed her eyes, his words filtering in again. “If you didn’t mean it, then why did you say it?”
With a forefinger he traced the lines on her palm, making her shiver. “I lost my temper, but you know you were being a bitch.”
Jessica snatched her hand away, resolve quickly taking hold over the feel of his soft touch. “Look, Jake, I don’t think this is going to work between us.”
Jake rushed to his feet, his chair falling over as he glared down at her. “You don’t think?” he scoffed. “You’re right, you don’t think, you just keep opening that big mouth of yours. I told you before, there are plenty of women dying to get with me. You want to end it. Fine by me.” With that he turned and stormed away, got into his car, squealing the tires making a fast exit.
Jessica sat back in her chair wishing she could crawl under the table and hide. She could feel the eyes upon her, knowing everyone in ear shot heard their break up. Heat rose to her cheeks as she realized he’d called her a bitch again, all because she didn’t want to hang out with Jake’s friends on a Saturday night. There was nothing to do now but go back home.
Just as she was about to stand, the waiter brought her the iced cappuccino and placed it before her. She looked up into the most amazing green eyes she’d ever seen.
“You look like you could use this,” he said, a warm smile enveloping his handsome face.
“Thank you. You heard all that, huh?”
“Yes, and I don’t care what you did to him, you didn’t deserve that.”
Jessica couldn’t help but smile. She reached for the icy beverage and took a drink. “What do I owe you for the drink?”
He smiled, a genuine, sweet smile that enveloped his face. “It’s on me.”
She gazed into those eyes and became lost in the green pools, the warmth and depth that emanated from them raced through her body making her tingle all over. “Thank you,” she uttered.
“I’m Adam,” he said extending his hand.
Jessica smiled and rested her palm in his big hand. “Jessica.” His fingers clasped around her hers, his touch gentle but soft.
“How are you getting home? I see you’ve been stranded,” Adam said, still holding onto her hand.
She sighed, enjoying this little moment way too much to pull her hand away. “I don’t live far.”
He leaned down, his face mere inches from hers. “I get off in thirty minutes. Can you wait?”
Wait? Oh yes, Jessica would wait. If for nothing else, to get lost in his dreamy eyes once more. This could be the beginning of something special indeed.
