About This Author
I am a 40 year old married mother of two teenage boys. I live for writing, especially romance. Love the happily ever after scenerio. The best thing about writing for me is the ability to lose yourself in your work, and feel as if you've accomplished something great. At the end of the day, that's all that really matters.
Crisis Averted
Listening to the incessant chatter just outside my office was bad enough, but having to hear the crap coming out of my employees’ mouths made my blood boil. Time made one voice stronger, but now the other waivered, a tiny little victory in my eyes, but it wasn’t enough. No matter how I tried to make sense of everything going on in the world, what still boggles my mind is how others like my misinformed employee cannot see the con-artist for what he is, cannot see the lies.

My breaking point is coming. I can feel it bubbling up as the arguing begins between to the two men; the one who refuses to let go, and the older man who can admit when he’s been conned.

“Am I right, Jack?” Ken said, laughter in his voice.

“No. That isn’t true,” Jack replied.

I moved closer to the window between us.

“It is. I heard it on the radio.”

“And that program you’re listening to is full of fake news,” Jack said.

A loud bang makes me jump as I look out the window to see have far they will take this latest argument. “How can you say that?”

“I watch the real news. Do you believe all those parents who lost children are lying? Do you know how sick and twisted that is?” Jack shouts.

Ken sets his wrench down on the toolbox. “Alex Jones says…”

“That idiot reads a letter from a skeptic and tosses around conspiracy theories like they’re gospel. Doesn’t make them legit.”

I know I must do something and swallow my anger. I open the window and stick my head out. “I need the mileage off of the Buick.”

When Ken walks outside a sigh of relief washes over me. Crisis averted.
