How to: Item EDIT Logs Item EDIT Logs
Did you know there's a built-in way to track changes to your items? Item Edit Logs automatically record every edit you make. This is crucial for recovering accidentally overwritten data or tracking edits in collaborative projects (or those items where group members are granted with Edit Access).
To view the complete list of Edit Logs, visit:
In this page, you'll see the Item ID / Title, Action, Date/Time, and Links.
Clicking on View Entry link will bring you to a page containing a detailed information about the item.
In this page, there's even options to edit the item directly from there.
Edit [ fs | Q ] RCS
* Notes: Member accessible "Item Edit" logs began July 6th, 2008. Edit logs do not include changes to an Item's main content as that is provided to Premium+ Members via the RCS feature linked from their items.
This note means that RCS are only available to members with Premium and above paid membership. Members below these can only view the edit logs.
How to filter a particular Item's Edit Log?
While you are on the page where all Edit Logs are stored, scroll all the way to the bottom of the page and you'll find a field to enter the item's ID number.
Simply input the ID number and hit Go.
Alternative Way
There's also another way to do this. Simply open the Item and on the upper right hand side of the item, you'll see the gear icon . Click on that and locate Edit Logs.
Where to find all the Edits made?
Good question. All edits made can be found on the RCS window. RCS stands for Revision Control System or simply Revision History. Remember these links mentioned above Edit [ fs | Q ] RCS? A click on the RCS will open a pop up window containing all your item's revision history.
RCS can be accessed alternatively under the Item's Setting (after clicking the icon) >> Revision History.
Simply click on the Date and Time an edit was made. It will bring you to a page that displays the Before Revision Interface as well as the Revision: Raw Copy & Paste.
Revision: Raw Copy & Paste is where you copy the raw data before any revisions made and then paste it to your item's Message Body to revert back any revisions after a certain date and time stamp.
