Central International Airport This choice: Justin Stowes Away His Bag • Go Back...Chapter #7Goims of Endearment by: Unknown "What about you?" Justin asked as he leaned in and reached over Kanya's head, propping open the overhead compartment door to stash his carry-on bag. "I've told you of my filthy nasty secret life as germ-doc, what is it that has you running from airport security?"
"Uhh.. it's a long story..." Kanya hedged.
"It's a long flight..." Justin countered, taking his seat and stowing his shoulder-bag satchel under the back of the seat in front of him.
"Well, disease-control doc..." Kanya sighed, "You got anything in your bag of tricks that will do away with controlling and abusive meglomaniacal fiancees?"
"Ahh.." Justin frowned at Kanya's frank retort, shaking his head sadly. "One of those stories... I should have guessed, and certainly, shouldn't have pressed..."
Kanya shrugged and forced a smile. "It's not your fault, nor your problem... in fact, to hear him tell it, I AM the disease..."
"...and he is the cure?" Justin completed her train-of-thought, and they both smiled.
Justin dug around in his satchel for a moment, while Kanya turned to look out the window as flight attendants made final preparations and the plane rolled away from the jetway, and taxied across the tarmac onto the runway.
"Here! Check these out!" Justin suggested, offering a small plastic container filled with 6 2-inch long 1/2-diameter metallic cylinders. "But, please, be extremely careful..."
"What are these?" Kanya wondered, examining the case. "They look like CO2 cartridges, like the kinds used in seltzer spritzer bottles..."
"Exactly like those!" Justin explained. "Those atomizers contain highly concentrated and specially-formulated strains of germs, from an advanced form of the common cold to an especially nasty strain of the felsh-eating virus... I'm planning on getting a patent to market them for personal security-use... No one should be afraid of the human evil, just as no one should be afraid of germs... we're not all bad, you know..."
Tears welled up in Kanya's eyes at the kindness and concern of this strange man, though she suddenly burst into laughter, which startled Justin.
"My mother always warned me about my flights of fancy, and about getting diseases from the strange men I come across..." she said through tears and chuckles, "And, it looks like she was right!"
The plane rolled into take-off position and all signs pointed to Bermuda... indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
