Central International Airport This choice: Her son, living with her father in France • Go Back...Chapter #6Her son, living with her father in France by: Unknown Jessica leaned back in her seat and tried to imagine her father. How would he look now? They hadn't seen each other in over six years, ever since the horrible misunderstanding.
It had started as a stupid argument, which she now admitted, she had provoked. If only he'd shown her the same love that he showered upon her son, David. Even if he just gave her a little of that love...maybe she wouldn't feel the need to push him.
Jess closed her eyes. What was she thinking? It was wonderful that David and his grandfather were close. "I sound as if I'm jealous", she murmured.
"What? What's that?" Archie peered at her.
She shook her hand in the air. "No, no...nothing. I didn't mean to say anything. Sorry."
He looked at her, squinting his eyes, and returned to the movie.
Jessica could remember the argument with her father as if it had happened yesterday. She could still feel his large hand as it tightened over her arm. Unconsciously, she rubbed the place above her left elbow.
"You're nothing but a selfish bitch!" he had screamed at her. "You can't even take care of your own son!" Even in the midst of emotion, she had noticed that his English was tinged with a slight Parisian accent. How pretentious he was.
Her father had always been an attractive man. He was taller than average and, as a girl, she had been proud of the way he towered over others. The last time she'd seen him, his dark hair had silver streaks and his angular face was scattered with wrinkles but his bright blue eyes still had the sparkle of a much younger man. His natural charisma caused strangers to circle around him and he'd seemed to luxuriate in the attention but why...why hadn't he loved his daughter? Why had he always pushed her away?
Jessica felt the old fury raise in her chest. "Stupid man", she thought, "stupid old man. Who the hell cares about him? As long as David is safe."
The plane dipped and she looked out the window. There it was. Paris. They would soon be landing in DeGaulle Airport. There was a new energy among the passengers in the plane. People awakened from the 6 hour flight and became refreshed, anticapatory of the landing.
Jessica wasn't sure what she felt.
