Central International Airport Chapter #5City of Romance by: faerie Good! She had been one step ahead of him. Jessica had booked her room at the plaza weeks ago, and upon hearing the man in the blue suit advise what was presumably hotel security of Max's arrival, gave herself a well deserved pat on the back. One thing had not been expected however, two, the man in blue had said two guests at the plaza. She'd have to think about it on the way to the hotel because her boy was on the move.
Jessica wrestled with her luggage at baggage claim and was trying, unsuccessfully, to manuever through the wrong side of the traffic caused by the flood of anxious to-be passengers trying to make their flights. One hard knock from behind and she met the cold tile of the airport floor.
"Par..don..monsura" she heard, the voice now circling and positioning itself in front of her. It was the worse attempt at French she had ever heard. If this was the majority of American tourists, it was understandable why the French detest Americans so much.
"I speak English" Jessica groaned as she stood and tried to regain her barrings in three inch heels. Not the best choice of attire for an undercover operative assignment, but it had been necessary to blend in with the other yuppie deputants that resided in first class.
"I am sorry. This is my first time in Paris and I'm not sure exactly where I'm suppose to be going". He said this without loosing eye contact. His eyes were grey. Not blue, not hazel, but an deep, intriging grey. She couldn't bring herself to focus on the entire face and she sure as hell couldn't focus on his eyes. He had used the secret code.
"Well, perhaps I could show you around, can you hail us a cab?". Her words were quick and emotionless. Jessica had often been told she appeared cold and distant, especially when she was frustrated as hell. Her worse nightmare was coming true. She was stuck in Paris gathering intel on the most netorious international gangster and assigned the one agent she had rather throw off the Ifel Tower. "City of Romance my foot" she tough to herself as she gathered her bag and headed for the doors.
