Chapter #7

Taxi

    by: Ram Effect
The last passenger had now boarded the plane, and they were now about to taxi. Kanya Lereaux and Jason Abraham were strapped into there seats, awaiting takeoff. Of all the passengers, Kanya was nervous about the takeoff. She wasn't afraid to fly, she just didn't like takeoff and landing.
The plane pulled away from the gate, and began to taxi. As they did so, Kanya looked out the window, wishing Jason was still in the window seat. She hadn't asked him whether he was going to Bermuda like her or getting off somewhere along the way. Perhaps she could ask him when they took off and the seatbelt signs went off. Kanya guessed it was enough that Jason was still on board. Kanya was surprised at the speed of the taxi. The speed, whatever it was, seemed faster than a run. Kanya couldn't judge it from where she was sitting, but she'd read somewhere that these airliners could taxi at 25 MPH. Kanya couldn't recall where she'd read that, but she believed it. Jason could have told her for sure.

"Ladies and gentlemen, may I have your attention please," the captain said on the intercom, "we're about to reach the runway for takeoff. But before we do, please pay attention to the flight attendants' intructions."

Kanya looked up to see the flight attendant that was giving routine instructions up ahead. But Kanya noticed that the flight attendant was the same stewardess that moved Jason to another seat, and Kanya was still sore about not having him to sit by or talk to during the flight. She supposed she should pay attention, but she felt that once she took off, the rest of the flight would go without incident. There was still a chance that the Director of Operations could still detain of redirect the flight for any number of reasons, but that was unlikely, and Kanya hoped it wouldn't happen. The stewardess finished speaking, and the plane was stopped on the runway. Kanya expected the engines to rev for takeoff, but there seemed to be trouble in the air. She gripped the sides of her seat and closed her eyes.
